I think the boffins here at Home Office Watch have worked out the Home Office’s new PR strategy. It’s to make mistakes that are so absurdly over the top that no-one will believe the stories are true.
After all, it would be pretty amazing wouldn’t it if it turned out the Home Office had cleared illegal immigrants work as security staff wouldn’t it? Particularly if some of them then got jobs at the Met Police.
I mean who could possibly believe that?

Really, this is only an issue that concerns security staff directly employed by a government department. The onus to check whether a job applicant has permission to work in the UK lies with the employer and always has done. Where security staff are employed by a private contractor, then it is they who should make the relevant checks.
The absence of permission to work in the UK does not necessarily mean that that person is a security risk. The vast majority are just trying to earn a living wage which is often not possible in their country of origin. It is worth remembering that The Home Office, like many other departments, contract out security work to private contractors and it is these contractors who are guilty of negligence.
It is not just the security industry who are lax in making the relevant checks with regard to permission to work. There are many employers who fail to make the relevant checks and the individuals they employ will not have undergone any kind of security checks at all. Very few of these employers are called to account for employing illegal workers and yet there seems to be very little concern about this.

Well lets all pass the buck with so many on the dole and thousands waiting to sneak into the country from France, Poland etc. We should penalise the employers and the goverment for allowing outsiders to take jobs from our time served tradesmen.Be like Australia and USA if we don’t need their trade you don’t get in or like the I.O.M.all jobs offered to locals and only then if skills not available can ANY companies offer to outsiders. They should fast track system to search out and repatriate illegal labour fine more companies and building sites for discriminating against british nationals. Where on earth are the construction jobs for the time served tradesmen of this country going to earn their living if third world countries nationals are imported at below national wages onto olympic sites and throughout the England. I want to know where is the help for british nationals to fill in all these benefit forms which are intimidating and confusing frightening when if you are foriegn national someone does it for them where is the fairness in that. We pay our taxes and stamps all our lives. Why is it fair to face long delays in catching these companies and goverment offices employing illegal workers then let loose back to disappear into the surroundings again. In America if your picked up you don’t return to base or your life you are shipped out to your originating country do not pass go or even collect your goods in lots of cases. I object to ID cards on the grounds that I cannot afford to pay for them they are ineffective expensive and the law abiding people should not be again made to pay for the others. If we had a hot line where suspected illegal workers and the employers could be reported and a team of immegration officers and police could act a fast track method and fines then companies and building sites would be less inclined to risk being caught . Takes too long to enforce law.Prime minister should match his mouth british jobs for british people first excuses are not acceptable need to help the willing trades people of this country first as we pay our taxes and national insurance money into the system unlike the illegals they keep pay below the cost of living and those who do come here when they go home take a tax rebate with them, whilst using the health service for free. You would not be able to do that in USA and many other countries.Being a subcontractor, Employer.or Company is not a get out of jail card.Thousands are hiding on building sites for the olympics, in resturants, and in Nursing homes.If you want to work in nursing homes you have to be CIB checked yet how come these people are getting away without these checks, do not say they are not because I am told of lots and sure you must know of some. This is neither fair or right no wonder the unions and people are getting sick and tired of unfair practices. No to more backstreet taxes on our wine and beer to the wealthy they dont care but to the working class it is yet another extra taxation on their living style.
