You’re unique - the government says so

The Identity and Passport Service (the guys building the ID cards database) has a slogan:

Everyone’s unique. Let us keep it that way.

Thanks to Ideal Government I have finally realised the absurdity of this statement. Are they trying to suggest that without Identity Cards there would be an outbreak of cloning?

I though BUPA were using that slogan until recently?

…just googled it. BUPA’s slogan was: “You’re amazing. We want you to stay that way.”

    Perhaps they really mean

You are a number not a name

The government uses two pictures to sell us ID cards on its webpages. First an Asian man and a black woman. Statistically these populations are more likely to be targetted more often with ID cards. Or are they implying that the ID cards is to single out minority groups? They couldn’t be less discreet about it. The phrase, “Turkeys voting for Christmas comes to mind.”
