IND-ignation

Monday, January 29th, 2007

The Immigration and Nationality Directorate is still dealing with a complaint 465 days after they promised to resolve it.

The IND complaints department seems to be overwhelmed with the volume of work.

But don’t worry - the Home Office promises it is “taking steps to reduce waiting times”. Wow.
Isn’t it about time the Home Office actually did something instead of just hiding behind the agencies it created?

Bonus time!

Even the most positive-thinking optimist would admit it hasn’t been the best of years for the Home Office. So it’s somewhat surprising that £3.5 million was paid in performance-related bonuses this year.

Is John Reid going to copy Patricia Hewitt’s comments about the NHS and claim it’s the police and immigration services’ best ever year?

As government departments struggle for cash and are being forced to make staff redundant it seems bizarre to say the least that one of the worst-performing departments in Whitehall can get away with premium pay packages.
